Following the EU Delegation in Tirana, another reaction has been made public today regarding the situation with Fokus Media News outlets, as a result of the unprecedented police action. Through a post on its official Facebook page, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Albania emphasized that, for the Kingdom of the Netherlands, media freedom and journalists’ safety remain top priorities, as they are essential for upholding the rule of law.
Attached to the post, the Embassy of the Netherlands also shared the position of the EU Delegation in Albania.
The EU Delegation highlights that it is important for any actions taken not to hinder journalists’ ability to exercise their freedom in reporting information and to maintain the confidentiality of their sources.
